Why it matters
Indie newsletters often discover deliverability problems only when open rates collapse — weeks after the damage started.Common triggers:
Importing old lists with stale addresses

What to do with it
Before a big send
Confirm your sending domain shows verified authentication.
Send to a clean segment first if the list is new or imported.
Check Deliverability 24–48 hours after the send — not only campaign open rate.
Review frequency and consent; audit signup sources
Auth failed
Fix DNS records; refresh verification in Domains
At risk
Pause large sends; clean the list before the next campaign
Use Audience → Overview filters for bounced and unsubscribed contacts, then bulk-archive or delete bad addresses.
List hygiene reminder
The Deliverability page includes a standing reminder: only mail people who expect your messages, and remove hard bounces promptly. List hygiene is not a one-time migration task — it is part of every send cycle.
