Create org inventory, book sites, opt in per layout template. Fixed-ratio placements, cookieless counts, and empty slots that collapse instead of leaving holes.
Create ads once at the org level, book them onto sites, then opt in per layout template. Nothing shows until a template enables the slot. Creatives must match the placement ratio or the slot collapses cleanly.
Why this shape
Most site builders bolt ads on as a third-party script. That works until you run a fleet of sites, need light and dark creatives, or care about layout shift.Aveiro Ads is organization inventory booked into fixed-ratio placements on your layout templates. The same ad can serve on Once UI docs, a product blog, and a landing site — without pasting a different embed into each page. This guide is the shortest path from zero to a live banner. Ads is still beta: an Aveiro admin has to grant the feature flag before you see it.
Step 1 — Turn the feature on
Confirm Ads appears under your organization dashboard. If it does not, ask support to enable the beta flag.
Open Organization → Features and enable Ads.
Make sure your user has the Manage ads capability (owners and admins have it by default).
Until that is done, bookings and placements will not stick.
Step 2 — Create inventory
Open Dashboard → Ads and create an ad:
Internal name (only your team sees this)
HTTPS destination URL
Flight window (when it may serve)
Then upload creatives per aspect ratio. An ad only fills a placement when it has a creative at that placement's exact ratio. Upload both light and dark artwork when the site supports themes.

Uploading a ratio no placement uses produces artwork that never serves. Keep the table next to your design file.
Step 3 — Book the ad onto sites
Inside the ad row, open Placements and pick which sites and slots may show it.
Booking alone does not render anything. A site has to opt in on its layout template. That is intentional — you should never wake up to banners on a client site because someone booked inventory org-wide.
Step 4 — Enable slots on the template
Open the site editor → Layout.
Edit the Default template.
Under Engagement, switch on Ads.
Prune placements this template should not serve.
For landing pages that should stay clean, duplicate the template, add an Ads override, and turn sidebar or footer slots off. Pages follow the template they resolve to — including folder pins and per-page overrides.
Set the site-wide disclosure label once on the default template's Ads row ("Sponsored", "Ad", or your wording). It translates with other site chrome on multilingual sites.
Step 5 — Preview, then publish
The editor preview renders booked ads without counting impressions. Empty enabled slots show a neutral placeholder at the right ratio so you can judge spacing. On the live site, unfilled slots collapse — visitors never see a placeholder.
Style a placement with the same chrome overrides as other layout slots: background, border, radius, shadow, padding, alignment, max width.
When it looks right, publish site settings (layout and ad chrome) and any page content that embeds an in-page Ad component.
What visitors see
Each served banner is one click target: disclosure label, creative at the placement ratio, destination hostname underneath. Impression and click counts are cookieless — same pipeline as page views, bots excluded, Global Privacy Control respected. Open Ads → Performance for 7-, 30-, or 90-day ranges.
Common misses
Booked but blank. Template Ads switch is still off, or the creative ratio does not match the placement.
Wrong density on landings. Default template has sidebar ads; landing pages need an Ads override that turns those slots off.
HTTP destinations. Destination URLs must be HTTPS.
Expecting cookies. Analytics here are cookieless by design — do not look for a third-party ad cookie.
Where to go next
Full reference lives in the help docs. Start with the overview, then the placements guide when you tune chrome.
