AI Video Generation — Short Clips from the Site Editor
Generate short video clips from the site editor's video picker — Quasar Lite (Seedance) for drafts, Quasar Max (Alibaba Wan 3.0) for cinematic motion. Async jobs with pending tiles; metered in AI credits.

Draft — not yet approved for publish
This post assumes the beta rollout recommended in docs/ai-video-generation-release-plan.md (once-ui-system/magic). Do not publish until Lorant confirms the feature is flipped from alpha to beta and reviews this copy.
In short
Open a site's video picker in the editor, describe a clip, and Aveiro generates a short video — Quasar Lite uses BytePlus Seedance for quick drafts; Quasar Max uses Alibaba Wan 3.0 via the Vercel AI Gateway for cinematic motion and synced audio. Generation runs as a background job; the picker shows a pending tile until it's ready.
What it does
The site editor's video picker can now generate a short clip instead of only accepting an upload. Describe what you want, pick a quality tier, and Aveiro starts an async generation job — you can keep editing while it runs, and the finished clip lands in your site's media library.
Two quality tiers
Quasar Lite — fast turnaround, 720p, 5 or 10 second clips. Good for drafts and social loops.
Quasar Max — Alibaba Wan 3.0 via the Vercel AI Gateway: cinematic motion and audio sync at 720p, 5 or 10 second clips. Available on paid plans with Quasar Max access (200 credits per second).
Both tiers can generate synced audio and accept an optional reference image to guide the first frame.
How it fits the editor
Start a generation from the video picker; a pending tile shows progress without blocking the rest of the editor.
Finished clips are ingested straight into your site's media library, ready to place like any uploaded video.
Generation is metered in AI credits, same pool as image generation and AI chat — no separate video quota to track.
Why we built it this way
Cover images and short clips are the highest-friction part of publishing regularly — most people don't have a video shoot ready for a Tuesday blog post. Wiring generation directly into the picker (rather than a separate tool) keeps it inside the same flow as everything else in the editor: pick, generate, place.
We chose two tiers instead of one so cost and quality are a conscious choice per clip — a quick social loop doesn't need the same spend as a cover video for a launch post.
Try it
Open a page in the site editor and add or edit a Video element.
In the video picker, switch to Generate instead of Upload.
Describe the clip, optionally attach a reference image, and pick Quasar Lite or Quasar Max.
Keep editing — the picker shows a pending tile until the clip is ready, then it's in your media library.
